Mathieu Flamini could leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window, amid reports that reigning Super Lig champions Galatasaray are set to hold talks with the French midfielder in the near future.

The 31-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract with the Premier League giants and found first-team opportunities limited during the second half of last season, following the emergence of Francis Coquelin in the holding role just in front of the Gunners defence.

Turkish media outlet Sabah have reported that Gala representative Cenk Ergun will fly to London next week to hold talks with last season’s FA Cup winners in hopes of signing a second player from the club this summer.

German forward Lukas Podolski completed his move to the champions of Turkey earlier in the summer and could be used as a selling point in order to persuade Flamini to follow suit.

Should Flamini make the switch to Galatasaray then it will increase the number of players leaving the Premier League for the Super Lig this summer. Former Manchester United pair Nani and Robin van Persie joined Fenerbahce earlier in the window and it appears Turkish football is on the rise.

Last season Flamini made 23 league appearances for the Gunners and his one and only goal came in the 3-0 victory over London rivals West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium back in March.

He was left on the bench during the FA Cup final against Aston Villa, but was still able to claim his third winners medal as the Gunners eased to a 4-0 victory at Wembley.
