Emirates Stadium side have funds to make big-money offer for top striker.

Arsenal are set to make a move for Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema according to The Sun.

Arsene Wenger is ‘open’ to a move for the 27-year-old, who has long been a Gunners target, with Real Madrid apparently open to the possibility of selling the French international.

Benzema was a regular under former Bernabeu boss Carlo Ancelotti but his future at Real Madrid has been called into question with new manager Rafa Benitez considering using either Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale as his central striking option.

The Sun claims Arsenal could make a £40m move for Benzema who could offer a far more prolific option as an Arsenal attacking spearhead than current first choice Olivier Giroud.

Benzema has bagged 20+ goals in each of his last five seasons in the Spanish capital.
