Manchester United given boost as Real Madrid boss makes statement on goalkeeping options

Manchester United will have been boosted by Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez revealing he is happy with his current set of goalkeepers, reports the Daily Express.

This could mean that the Red Devils will be able to hold on to David de Gea for at least another season. After manager Louis van Gaal appeared to end any cordial relations with current number two Victor Valdes by revealing he was going to sell him [Goal.com], this will be great news for fans.

Benitez revealed this after signing Kiko Casilla from Espanyol. With Keylor Navas already in the squad, the former Liverpool boss now has two options to put between the sticks after the departure of Iker Casillas to Porto.

“With Casilla’s arrival we have more competition and we are happy,” he said, “The keepers that have we are sufficient and have enough quality.”

However, this doesn’t mean that United are out of the woods yet. De Gea’s contract ends in a year, and the La Liga giants may just be biding their time until they can pick up the 24-year-old on a free transfer. The Daily Telegraph has already reported that this is a likely outcome, and it will merely delay the issue the Premier League side will have when their number one departs.
