Tottenham set to complete €8m midfielder transfer

White Hart Lane side set to sell French star.

Tottenham are close to agreeing the sale of midfielder Benjamin Stambouli to PSG according to French source RTL.

The 24-year-old’s move to Parc des Princes is said to be imminent with a fee of €8m (£6m) cited by this source and the transfer would see Stambouli returning to Ligue 1 just a year after leaving Montpellier for White Hart Lane.

White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino has already offloaded a number of under-performing members of his squad and the north London side will make a small profit on the £5m they paid for Stambouli last August.

Having already found buyers for Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Lewis Holtby it’s likely Stambouli is on his way to the Parc des Prince.

One wonders how Stambouli will force his way into Laurent Blanc’s first team set-up given he struggled to make an impact at Spurs.

Blanc may see Stambouli as an ideal replacement for Yohan Cabaye, who struggled to make an impact at PSG prior to his move to Crystal Palace earlier this summer.
