Manchester United transfer news sees Bayern pair linked.

Louis van Gaal is considering another raid on his old club Bayern Munich this summer as Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski emerge as top targets in today’s Manchester United transfer news.

According to the Daily Express, the Red Devils are looking to improve their attacking options before the end of the transfer window and these two are priorities, with the Dutch tactician quoted as saying he is still looking for new signings.

With Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao both leaving since the end of last season, it’s clear that there are gaps for United up front, with only Wayne Rooney available as a senior option to play at centre-forward, with youngster James Wilson in reserve, though surely not yet good enough to be playing regularly in the first-team.

Muller and Lewandowski look like ideal options for the club as they keep attempting to bring in the world’s biggest names, with Van Gaal showing he can lure world class talent during his first year with the club, during which time he has brought in the likes of Angel Di Maria, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.

United are already well stocked in the attacking midfield department, with players like Di Maria and Memphis Depay fairly similar options to someone like Muller, but Polish international forward Lewandowski could be a particularly useful buy to replace the goals of Van Persie.

The 26-year-old has been extremely prolific in recent seasons, scoring 25 in all competitions in his first term with Bayern last year, following on from 103 in 186 games for previous club Borussia Dortmund.
