Bayern Munich reject STUNNING £69.5m bid from Manchester United for Thomas Muller

Manchester United are showing no signs of ending their summer spending spree as they have reportedly seen a huge £69.5million bid for Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller rejected.

The Red Devils have already completed one signing from the reigning Bundesliga champions as Bastian Schweinsteiger joined the club earlier this month and it appears Louis van Gaal is determined to lure another one of his former players away from the Allianz Arena before the transfer window closes in just over a month’s time.

However, it would appear Bayern are reluctant to let another key player leave this summer and according to a Munich-based media publication Sport1 [via Sky Sports] last season’s Champions League semi-finalists have rejected United’s offer of €100million.

It remains to be seen whether United can convince the Bavarian outfit to part company with the German international, but a new forward is clearly a priority for van Gaal.

Following the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie this summer, the Red Devils are little light in the centre-forward area as Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez are currently the only out-and-out senior strikers at the club.

One deal that looks to be dead in the water is the club’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani after his agent hinted over the weekend that he will stay with the Ligue 1 champions after being promised a more central role ahead of the new campaign [via Mirror Sport].
