Bastian Schweinsteiger has confirmed Manchester United’s spending spree is far from over and expects the club to add at least two more players before the transfer window closes in just over a month.

The German international is one of four new recruits for the Old Trafford outfit this summer as he completed his move from reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in time to join United on their pre-season tour of the United States [via Independent Sport].

Schweinsteiger was announced as an United player on the same day as fellow midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who signed from Premier League rivals Southampton [via United’s official club website].

The double signing completed a stunning 48 hours for the club after they confirmed the signing of highly-rated Italian defender Matteo Darmian from Serie A outfit Torino [via Independent Sport].

Memphis Depay was the first new arrival after United agreed a deal with Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven towards the end of last season [via Telegraph Sport] and Schweinsteiger has hinted that manager Louis van Gaal is still open to doing more business:

“I have to say the quality is huge. I am sure with this team it is possible to win titles and after a week I can say that,” the German said [via Star Sport]

“We have a good defence, we have good defensive players, and we have quality players who can make the difference in high-level matches.”

“There are some guys who will come later, so I think this team has a lot of possibilities and qualities,” Schweinsteiger revealed.

The 31-year-old’s comments are likely to spark intense speculation among many United supporters, who will be anxious to see who is next to arrive at Old Trafford.

If recent rumours in the media are anything to go by then van Gaal appears to be in the transfer market searching for a new central defender and striker.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has emerged as the Dutchman’s first-choice transfer target, but a potential deal is likely to involve goalkeeper David De Gea heading in the opposite direction [via BBC Sport].

Meanwhile, after reportedly being snubbed by Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, who is set to stay with the Ligue 1 champions after being promised a central role in the upcoming season [via Mirror Sport], attentions seem to have switched to German international forward Thomas Muller. United reportedly had a bid rejected by Munich earlier in the week [via ESPN], but may yet return with an improved offer.
