Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a transfer bid for Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, and a bid is expected over the coming days.

This is according to Alfredo Pedulla, journalist with Sport Italia, as reported by Le 10 Sport.

According to the correspondent, PSG are planning a €125 million bid for the player, with an offer set to be made in the coming days.

The Parisians are the reigning French champions, and will begin the Ligue 1 campaign as overwhelming favourites for the domestic title.

However, they remain ambitious to bolster their squad, secure more marquee players, and forge a squad capable of flourishing in the latter stages of the Champions League.

Now freed of the limitations of financial fair-play, the club’s Qatari owners may see Ronaldo as an ideal target to achieve these targets France Football [via the Mirror].

The prospect of the former Real Madrid man linking up with his ex-Merengues teammate would doubtless appeal to PSG fans and management.

However, the club are also set to lose some key figures this summer, with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic [Mirror], Edinson Cavani [Express], Ezequiel Lavezzi [Metro] and Thiago Motta [Metro] all having been tipped for the exit door.

PSG may yet face competition from Manchester United, with the Red Devils understood to also be prepared to enter the race for the player should he become available [Metro].
