Tottenham to BEAT Arsenal in race to sign Premier League star after Manchester United drop out

Tottenham are ahead of Arsenal and PSG in the race to sign Newcastle United star Moussa Sissoko, reports the Daily Star.

This comes after Manchester United dropped their interest in the 25-year-old once they had signed Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton. The White Hart Lane outfit are thought to be favourites for his signature as a result, but will have to pay over £16 million for his signature.

However, Spurs may end missing out because of their lack of Champions League football, which both the Gunners and Parisians do have to offer. The France international is keen to play in the competition, but is also wary of losing regular football ahead of Euro 2016.

“Didier Deschamps says he will only select players who are regulars for their club,” he said, “With a year until the Euros, I shouldn’t change club and risk ended up on the bench. But at the same time I want to play for one of the biggest clubs.

“I want to play in the Champions League, which we don’t have at Newcastle. One day or another, my time will come. But in any case I see myself staying in England.”

Should the North Londoners manage to sign the midfielder it could mean that Nabil Bentaleb or Ryan Mason lose their place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line up. The pair created a solid partnership in the middle of the park last season, but if Tottenham are to break back in to the Champions League places then we will more quality in the area.
