£32.5m Manchester United and Liverpool transfer target makes MAJOR statement on future

Manchester United and Liverpool target Miralem Pjanic has made a statement on his future at AS Roma, reports the Daily Express.

The 25-year-old appears to have committed to the Italian side, and wants to help them finally overhaul Juventus for a major trophy after coming second to them in Serie A for the last two seasons. This will only get tougher after the Old Lady won both the league and the Coppa Italia as well as got to the final of the Champions League last time round.

“I would like to try and win many titles every season, helping the club to achieve this,” said Pjanic, “It’s not easy, as there are strong teams in Serie A. Playing in the Champions League every year is fundamental. The objective for next season is to win something.

“We try every year to get closer to Juventus, who were so consistent last term, winning the Scudetto and reaching the Champions League Final.”

With players like Pjanic at their disposal, the Rome based side could well have a chance of doing this. The midfielder has impressed while being a perennial runner-up, attracting the interest of both Premier League sides as well as a £32 million price tag.

The news that the Bosnia international is aiming to stay with Roma will especially hurt Liverpool. While the Red Devils have bolstered their midfield with Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger, their Merseyside rivals have only brought in James Milner to the position. With Anfield legend Steven Gerrard having left, Brendan Rodgers may need to do more to make up for his loss.
