Angel Di Maria: Manchester United agree €63m transfer fee with Ligue 1 giants

Angel Di Maria appears to be closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, as Manchester United have agreed a transfer fee for their record-signing.

According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 heavyweights and the Premier League giants have reached an agreement over the sale of the Argentina international.

The French newspaper claim that Les Parisiens have offered €63m (£44.5m) for the former Real Madrid winger – which is said to have been accepted by the Red Devils.

L’Equipe state that Di Maria could complete his transfer to Laurent Blanc’s side on Monday, as he is reportedly set to undergo a medical in New York Red Bulls’ training base – with both clubs currently in the States for their pre-season tour.

This latest news arrives just a day after United manager Louis van Gaal voiced his expectance that the 27-year-old would regroup with his Premier League team-mates following an extending summer break – due to his participation in the Copa America:

“I expect him tomorrow,” as quoted by BBC Sport.

“We have communicated on that. Di Maria, Marcos Rojo and Javier Hernandez have responded.”

Di Maria, therefore, looks poised to end his time in England’s top flight – just a year after swapping the Santiago Bernabeu for Old Trafford in a record-breaking £59.7m deal [via BBC Sport].

Despite failing to cement his position under van Gaal, the forward still netted three goals and registered 10 assists – which only Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas (18) and Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla (10) bettered.

The arrival of Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, however, may have done little to assure the Argentine – who was handed just 1645 minutes of action last season – of a regular role under van Gaal.

Nonetheless, it has previously been reported that his desire to leave England is centred upon his family failing to settle in Manchester [via the Daily Star].
