Chelsea are facing competition from Bayer Leverkusen to sign Internacional star Charles Aranguiz, reports tuttomercatoweb.

Arsenal have also been linked to the 26-year-old by the Daily Mirror. This comes after the Chile international impressed for his country in their Copa America victory this summer. The midfielder played throughout the tournament, and even put away his spot kick in the final against Argentina.

This has drawn the trio of European clubs to the player, who currently plays in Brazil. The centre-mid has never moved to a club outside of South America, and it could be a risk to sign him as a result. However, the high-octane style of the Chilean national team may somewhat prepare him for the hustle and bustle of the European game.

Aranguiz has six goals in 36 appearances for his country, and is also experienced at a domestic level. He has already featured for six different clubs in his career, and could be set for a seventh in the near future.

Both the Stamford Bridge outfit and their North London rivals are in need of more numbers in central midfield. Aranguiz, as he is able to take a defensive or more forward position, could be perfect as he can cover for multiple roles.
