Manchester United boosted as Real Madrid boss admits he ‘doesn’t know’ if star will join

Manchester United will have been boosted by the news that Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez doesn’t know if he will sign David De Gea, reports the Daily Mail.

“I don’t know,” said the Benitez when asked about a move for the United star, “He is not here and I don’t know. I don’t speak to [Manchester United manager Louis] Van Gaal every day.”

This could mean that the 24-year-old is going to stay with the Red Devils, despite being heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu throughout the summer. Louis van Gaal will likely be overjoyed by this news, after the goalkeeper played such a vital part in their success last season.
