Manchester United could be set to bring in another signing in midfield this summer with the Daily Express reporting a boost in their efforts to land Lazio star Lucas Biglia.

The Red Devils are said to be keen on making another signing in that department before the end of the transfer window, despite manager Louis van Gaal already significantly boosting his options with the additions of both Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger in that department.

United also signed Ander Herrera last summer, with the Spaniard enjoying a fine first season at the club, though reports in the Daily Mirror today claim that Michael Carrick has been the subject of bids from Newcastle United and Inter Milan, so there could yet be departures in that position in the coming weeks.

As well as that, Van Gaal admitted he may be considering using another midfielder, Daley Blind in defence for the new season (via the Metro), meaning there could be room for a player like Biglia, who has impressed greatly in Serie A in recent times.

The Express now report that Lazio are looking for a replacement for the 29-year-old, which may free up United to land the £17.7m Argentine international, who could be joined by his fellow countryman Sergio Romero at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mail.

After deals for Angel Di Maria and Marcos Rojo last summer, there is a strong Argentine contingent growing at the club, though a report on BBC Sport today suggests Di Maria could be close to joining Paris Saint-Germain.
