Stevan Jovetic says farewell to Manchester City with emotional message on social media (Twitter)

Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic appears to be edging closer to an exit from the club after posting a farewell message via his official Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.

The 25-year-old is set for a return to Serie A and will undergo a medical with Inter Milan early next week, but details of the transfer being a loan or permanent deal are yet to be disclosed [via BBC Sport].

Jovetic arrived in England back in the summer of 2013 from Italian giants Fiorentina but has failed to hold down a regular place in Manuel Pellegrini’s strongest XI and his progression has also been hampered with numerous spells on the sidelines through injury.

After netting a brace against Liverpool in the second game of the 2014/15 campaign, Jovetic would find the back of net just three more times during the season and his last came in City’s 3-2 win over Sunderland on New Years Day at the Etihad Stadium.

With the arrivals of Wilfried Bony and Raheem Sterling in the last two transfer windows, competitions for places at City is set to increase and regular first team football would have been limited for Jovetic if he had decided to stay at the club.
