Emirates Stadium side set to clinch second major summer signing.

Arsenal are reportedly confident of completing the signing of Juventus forward Fernando Llorente by Monday according to the Daily Express.

The experienced 30-year-old Spanish international is said to be a Gunners target with Arsene Wenger keen to strengthen his striking options ahead of the new season.

Wenger still sees Olivier Giroud as his first-choice to lead spearhead the Arsenal attack but having seen Yaya Sanogo loaned out to Ajax and Lukas Podolski sold to Galatasaray, it’s clear the north London side are short on back-up alternatives.

Fernando Llorente has been a moderate success in Turin, netting 18 goals in his debut season in Italy before falling down the Juventus pecking order last term, and is apparently available for a fee of £8.5m.

Prior to his move to Juventus the lanky marksman enjoyed a great deal of success with Basque side Athletic Bilbao, netting 118 goals for the La Liga side, and was part of Spain’s victorious 2010 World Cup finals squad.
