Arsenal star agreeing Serie A move today as club president arrives in London

Arsenal star Joel Campbell has agreed a season-long loan move to Palermo after club president Maurizio Zamparini arrived in London, reports the Daily Express.

The Italian side have recently lost Paulo Dybala to Juventus, and could be looking to replace the forward with the Costa Rica international. The 23-year-old will have some big shoes to fill at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, with Dybala scoring 13 goals and grabbing 10 assists in 34 Serie A games last season.

Campbell has failed to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium, despite much being expected after some promising performances at the 2014 World Cup. The youngster made just six appearances, two of which were starts, for the Gunners in the last campaign before being farmed out on loan to Villarreal in January. He had more chances at the Spanish side, but still only scored once in his 18 games.

It seems the forward has decided to join the Italian side instead of opting for a return to La Liga. Real Sociedad had been linked with a move for the player [Metro], but it seems that ultimately, the former Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes has missed out on his man.

This move may allow for the North Londoners to bring in another forward to back up Olivier Giroud or even replace him.

An approach for Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema has been mooted [Metro], and the Bernabeu hotshot would surely command a starting place in the team. Meanwhile, Fernando Llorente, who has been linked by the Daily Express, would be an option to feature as a reserve.
