West Bromwich Albion have responded to speculation suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur had made a £20 million bid for forward Saido Berahino.

Writing on their official Twitter account, the Baggies firmly denied that Spurs had made any offer for the attacker.

“OK, this is getting silly now,” the message began, posted on the @WBAFCofficial handle,

“So let us make it clear: There has been NO bid for Saido. That’s it. Carry on everyone.”

As noted by talkSPORT, the Throstles’ comments come as transfer speculation is mounting linking Spurs with a £20 million bid for Berahino.

The report also noted that Mauricio Pochettino was close to securing a double swoop for both the England youngster and Democratic Republic of Congo wideman Yannick Bolasie.

The Daily Mirror had previously reported that Spurs had made a £15 million bid for Berahino, with Pochettino understood to have made the Anglo-Burundian youngster his top transfer target.

ESPN noted that Spurs will make a move for the youngster as soon as Togo hitman Emmanuel Adebayor has completed his rumoured move to Aston Villa, who are seeking a replacement for new £32.5 million Liverpool striker Christian Benteke [Mirror].
