Chelsea are keen to bring in two new defensive additions before the summer transfer window slams shut, according to the Independent.

The Blues have only made relatively minor moves in the transfer market thus far, but Jose Mourinho has his sights set on a couple of potential signings.

Chelsea continue to pursue Everton youngster John Stones, with the Independent claiming the West London side are ready to mount a fresh bid for the 21-year-old.

Man United are also said to be keen on John Stones [via the Independent] and may yet rival the Pensioners for the player’s signature.

Stones is considered by some to be an ideal long-term replacement for veteran Chelsea skipper John Terry [pundit Andy Gray via the Daily Star], with the 34-year-old centre-back clearly in the latter stages of his glittering career.

Chelsea eased to a Premier League title triumph last season but Jose Mourinho isn’t a manager who rests on his laurels and will hope to mount a genuine push to retain the club’s domestic crown as well as pushing for an extended run in the Champions League.
