Liverpool send representatives to Spain to sort deal for Manchester United target

Liverpool have sent negotiators to Barcelona to sort out a deal for Manchester United target Adama Traore, reports the Daily Star.

The Reds are interested in a season-long loan deal for the 19-year-old, with an option to buy at the end of it. Everton Stoke, AS Monaco, and Bayern Munich are also interested in a deal, but it seems that the Anfield outfit have made the first serious move to try and sign him.

The forward is unlikely to get much game time at the Nou Camp, as Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Neymar are currently filling the offensive roles in the first team. The recent signing of Arda Turan also means that the potential departure of Pedro to Old Trafford [Daily Express] won’t help the youngster’s cause.

Traore’s situation is similar to what Gerard Deulofeu’s was before he completed a transfer to Everton, showing that the Catalan side are willing to sell at least some of their young prospects due to a glut of attacking talent.

The Spaniard has just four appearances for the Blaugrana, scoring once. However, he has been a regular for their ‘B’ side, and is highly rated by those at La Masia, according to the Daily Mirror. If Brendan Rodgers is able to get his man it could be yet another transfer coup for the summer, following the acquisition of players such as Roberto Firmino and James Milner.

Both players chose to join the Reds ahead of Champions League sides. Firmino could have gone to Man Utd [Metro], while Milner had the option to stay at Manchester City [The Independent]. Traore could join this pair if he rejects the Red Devils and Bayern for Liverpool.
