United table offer for Serie A duo.

Manchester United have reportedly made a bid of £42.5m to sign two Lazio players this summer, only for the Serie A side to reject it, according to the Daily Express.

The Red Devils have been chasing the signings of Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson and Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij – two positions the club could certainly do with strengthening this summer.

Sky Sports have reported today that a move for Angel Di Maria to join Paris Saint-Germain is edging closer, which could lead United to try and bring in another attacking midfielder before the transfer window closes, despite striking a deal for Netherlands attacker Memphis Depay earlier this summer.

Anderson looks an ideal signing for the club in that part of the pitch, having shot to prominence last season with 11 goals and 7 assists for Lazio in all competitions.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in the 22-year-old wide-man, though the Daily Express have previously reported that he was not keen on a move to the Blues, or to United, for that matter.

Still, that does not seem to have put Louis van Gaal’s side off bidding for him again in a double deal also involving De Vrij, who would be a useful addition at centre-back after United appeared to miss out on Sergio Ramos, who has signed a new contract with Real Madrid, according to Marca. It was claimed that, in their search for a new defender, United bid for Ramos earlier in the summer, according to Sky Sports.
