Stones to Chelsea transfer: Everton could ask for Blues player in swap deal

Toffees open to swap deal if they sell Stones to Chelsea.

Everton could be more willing to sell John Stones to Chelsea this summer if they get a Blues player in return as part of the deal, according to The Times.

The England international’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent times, with the Guardian reporting that Everton have turned down a £26m bid from the Premier League champions, while Manchester United are also starting to show an interest in his services.

The talented 21-year-old has certainly shown himself to be a top prospect for the future, as well as a useful addition for the present, with his displays for the Toffees in recent times, having become a first-team regular for the club in the 2013/14 season.

Stones then made 28 appearances for the Merseyside outfit last season, scoring one goal. He also has four caps for the senior England national team, and it is little surprise to see that his club have fought hard to keep him so far this summer.

Still, The Times states that Everton could be open to letting him go if they receive a Chelsea player in return, though no specific name has been mentioned so far.

The Daily Telegraph reported back in May that Chelsea striker Loic Remy was on Roberto Martinez’s radar, so it could be that there’d be some potential for the French forward to move to Goodison Park if it helped bring Stones to Chelsea.

These two clubs did business last summer as Romelu Lukaku moved from Chelsea to Everton, while Christian Atsu made the same move on loan.
