Chelsea & PSG chase signing of Brazilian starlet, agent confirms

Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing Galatasaray left-back Alex Telles this summer, the player’s agent has confirmed to a Turkish-language version of Eurosport.

The Blues are supposedly joined by Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan in tracking the 22-year-old Brazilian, who looks an exciting prospect for the future after his impressive displays in Turkish football.

Chelsea may be interested in Telles due to just selling Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid (confirmed this week on BBC Sport), leaving them with only Cesar Azpilicueta as a recognised option on the left-hand side of their defence.

Filipe Luis never really settled in at Stamford Bridge last season, and wholly failed to displace Cesar Azpilicueta, but Telles could prove an upgrade in that position, even if he remains a squad player and backup to the excellent Spaniard, whose rock-steady form surely keeps him as first choice in the starting lineup for the time being.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will necessarily land this promising South American ahead of the competition, with his agent Fernando Otto even suggesting his client would be happy to stay with his current club.

“There are clubs that are making offers, although none have been official,” Otto said in translated quotes on Turkish-football.com, “he could play for Chelsea and PSG without using a foreign player space due to having an Italian passport, but he is happy at Galatasaray.”

With first-team football no guarantee in west London, it is perhaps no surprise should the player feel he is better off staying in Turkey to continue his development.
