The Belgium international will be expected to help the side score more freely, after struggling to do so with Luis Suarez or an injured Daniel Sturridge last time around. He scored 49 goals in 101 appearances during three years with the Villans, so is definitely qualified to do so.

Meanwhile, Firmino should alleviate some of the pressure on Philippe Coutinho to be the main source of creativity next time round. The 23-year-old managed seven goals and ten assists in the Bundesliga last season, and fans will be hoping he can repeat this in the English game.
