Angel Di Maria FINALLY breaks his silence over imminent £44m transfer to Paris Saint-Germain from Manchester United

Argentina winger Angel Di Maria has given his first interview to explain his imminent exit from Manchester United and has set his sights on leading Paris Saint-Germain to UEFA Champions League glory this season.

The 27-year-old has been undergoing a medical on Qatar ahead of his £44million transfer to the reigning champions of France and the deal should be officially announced before the weekend.

It was just last summer when the Red Devils smashed their transfer record to land Di Maria from La Liga giants Real Madrid for £59.7million and despite a scoring twice in his first three games for the club, his performance levels would decline soon afterwards and eventually lost his place in manager Louis van Gaal’s strongest XI towards the end of last season.

Following a summer of silence in regards to his future and after failing to report for United’s pre-season tour of the United States earlier in the summer, the winger has finally spoken out and revealed the reasons behind him deciding to depart English football after just one season:

“I am very happy to join PSG. What I know about PSG is that it is a team that won all the possible trophies in France last season” the former Los Blancos star told beIN Sports [via Express Sport].

“I also know that I want to overcome the obstacle that is the quarter finals of the Champions League.”

“I am going to try to bring the best of my abilities to put myself at the service of this team, we are going to try and go as far as possible in the Champions League,” Di Maria revealed.
