Manchester United £49.2m move BACK ON after target rejects Real Madrid contract

Manchester United‘s mooted move for Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos could be back on after he rejected a contract offer, reports the Metro.

The 29-year-old turned down a £5.6-million-a-year deal from Los Merengues, and is believed to want closer to £7 million if he is going to put pen to paper. This will give hope to the Red Devils, who have been linked with a move throughout the summer.

Rated at £49.2 million, the Spain international could be perfect to solve United’s defensive woes. Players such as Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones were error-prone last season, and goalkeeper David De Gea was forced to make up for their faults. If Louis van Gaal is going to get the team to improve on their fourth place finish of last season, then he will have to sort out their shaky back line.

Ramos has proven himself in the highest echelons of the game, winning the World Cup, European Championships, Champions League, and La Liga in his time. This experience could be vital as United loo to impress on their return to the Champions League, as well as challenge for the Premier League title.
