Manchester United transfer twist: NO official bid received for £22m Barcelona star

Despite the continued speculation suggesting that Manchester United are poised to seal a deal for Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez, the La Liga BBVA giants’ president Josep Maria Bartomeu claims that no club has yet made an official offer for his signature.

Reports yesterday stated that Pedro would make his final appearance at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night – a pre-season victory over AS Roma – before heading to Old Trafford.

While last night former FIFA accredited agent Vincent Rodriguez tweeted that the Red Devils had agreed to meet his £22m release-clause, and he would undergo his medical in Manchester this week.

The Spaniard is rumoured to have reached the decision to leave Barca after accepting his limited position in Luis Enrique’s side – behind Neymar, Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and perhaps Arda Turan.

However, Bartomeu has insisted that there has no bid has been tabled for the forward, and he remains a ‘fundamental’ player for the club.

“We have not received an official offer for Pedro,” as quoted by the Daily Star.

“To my knowledge, Pedro isn’t going.

“I want him to continue [because] he is a fundamental player for us, and what’s more is that this season we have to play for six trophies.

“We need the best players possible, we would miss his experience and quality.”

With Angel Di Maria’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain having today been confirmed, Louis van Gaal may increase his efforts to sign a replacement to the Argentine, and Pedro appears to be one of his targets – despite Bartomeu’s comments.
