Real Madrid boss hints at MEGA Manchester United transfer

Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has refused to rule out further arrivals at the Bernabeu this summer, reports the Daily Express.

This is bad news for Manchester United, whose star player David De Gea has been linked to Los Merengues all summer. The 24-year-old’s contract ends after the coming season, and it is thought that he could join the La Liga giants in either this month or next summer.

However, it could sooner than wanted for Red Devils fans if the move that the former Liverpool boss seems to be alluding to is for the Spain international.

“We have a good team, but coaches always want to improve,” Benitez said, “The market is open until August 31.”

If the goalkeeper joins Los Blancos it will be a major blow to United, especially as they are preparing for their return to the Champions League. Not only that, but Louis van Gaal will be expected to deliver a better finish in the Premier League than the fourth place they managed last time around.

With De Gea so key to their fortunes in the last campaign, the damage from his departure would be very difficult to come back from. The fact that the manager has fallen out with number two Victor Valdes only makes the situation worse.
