Tottenham and West Ham transfer target agrees new deal

Everton forward Kevin Mirallas has signed a new contract with the Merseysiders, amidst transfer rumours linking him with a move away from Goodison Park.

According to L’Equipe, the Belgium international put pen to paper on a new deal on Friday, committing himself to the Toffees until 2018.

With Mirallas currently 27, Everton fans will surely be delighted that the attacker has agreed to see out his peak years with the Blues.

The forward arrived from Greek giants Olympiakos in 2012, having previously featured for Saint-Etienne and LOSC Lille in Ligue 1.

He managed seven goals and one assist in 29 Premier League appearances last term—of which 18 were starts—in a disappointing year for both himself and for his club.

Despite his struggles last term, Mirallas can still be—on his day—a menacing operator in the Premier League. Particularly valuable is his ability to play on both flanks, as he did for Everton last term.

News that he has agreed a new deal will likely come as a blow to Premier League pair Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

According to the Express, both London clubs have been keen on the attacker, who had had only 12 months left on his deal before Friday’s decision.

The tabloid report that the player has endured a tricky relationship with Roberto Martinez—news which may have prompted further interest from Spurs and the Hammers—but now appears to have patched things up with his boss and is looking forward to his future at Goodison Park.
