So who will you be backing for the Outright winner?
As expected, Chelsea head the markets with plenty of money coming in for Jose Mourinho’s side at a very tasty price of 8/1.
Paddy Power report that punters have gobbled up that price, and with Costa, Fabregas and Eden Hazard once again set to pull the strings the Blues are set to go very close again. The are some however, who have questioned Mourinho’s transfer policy during the summer months with only Radamel Falaco brought in.
The jury is still out on the Colombian and with Costa nursing an injury at the moment, suddenly there is a distinct lack of a proven goalscorer up front. It’s said every year but John Terry will be another year older (35 this season), and with Branislav Ivanovic also the wrong side there must surely be a doubt over these two starting every game.
They’ve proved us wrong in the past, but with no side winning the Premier League title consecutively since 2009, the winner may lie elswhere.
Manchester City were runners up last season and any side with Sergio Aguero in their midst is sure to go close. Raheem Sterling will certainly add an attacking threat, but scoring goals is not a problem for the Citizens, injuries permitting, although there must be question marks again over their defence, with Vincent Kompany still searching for the sort of form which won City the title in 2013/2014.
The Red half of Manchester will certainly be alot more optimistic of their chances this season following some quality additions to the squad, most notably Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay, and with Wayne Rooney set to feature predominantly up front after the departure of Robin Van Persie, Manchester United will look to change to a more attacking formation.
Their much maligned defence seems to have been forgotten however.
David De Gea now looks certain to join Real Madrid, and with the keeper putting in some outstanding displays last season, there is a definite void to be filled.
Arsenal are one side who look primed for a very serious Premier League challenge and look the bet for us at a dripping price of 20/1 to take the title.
Victory in the Community Shield over the rock solid Jose Mourinho will have a lifted a monkey off the backs of Arsene Wenger and with the Gunners finally signing a decent keeper in Petr Cech, the ghost of some terrible defensive displays this season can surely be laid to rest.
