No.9: Manchester United place trio of top targets on striker wish-list

Man United have left the number nine shirt spot vacant for the time being, leaving many speculating that a new addition may well be brought in by Louis van Gaal this summer.

Loaned in forward Radamel Falcao wore the shirt last season and new signing Memphis Depay has been given Angel Di Maria’s number seven spot and the Daily Star claim that three top targets are on van Gaal’s wish-list.

Tottenham forward Harry Kane, Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller and PSG ace Edinson Cavani are reportedly those who interest the Dutch manager and of the three one would imagine Uruguayan forward Cavani would be the most likely to make a move to Old Trafford.

22-year-old England man Kane comes up against Man United on the opening day of the Premier League season and will be looking to replicate his heroics of 2014/15, when the youngster scored 31 goals in all competitions, and is a player the White Hart Lane side would be loathe to lose.

Bayern Munich will fight tooth and nail to keep hold of Muller, especially having seen midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger move to Man United over the summer.

Having sold Angel Di Maria to PSG there is perhaps a hope that Man United could do further business with the Parc des Princes side with former Napoli man Cavani said to be unhappy with his wide-attacking role under Laurent Blanc.
