Chelsea complete Baba Rahman signing: defender says farewell to Augsburg

Chelsea have reportedly all but completed the signing of Augsburg defender Baba Rahman with German source Bild reporting that the Ghana international had conducted his farewell match on Saturday.

The Blues will pay €25m (£17m) for the 21-year-old who is being in brought in to replace Filipe Luis following the Brazilian’s return to Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.

Rahman played all 120 minutes of Augsburg’s DFB pokal extra time win over Elversberg, a match that appears to have been his last for the WWK ARENA side.

Baba Rahman moved to Augsburg last summer, after impressing at Greuther Fürth, and helped the Bundesliga minnows to a club record fifth place finish which secured a maiden Europa League campaign for 2015/16.

Jose Mourinho saw his side start their Premier League title defence with a home draw with Swansea City and looks ready to strengthen his defensive options, whilst also keeping a close eye on Everton’s John Stones.
