Manchester United boss explains why Angel Di Maria wasn’t CUT OUT for Old Trafford

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed why Angel Di Maria failed to make an impact at Old Trafford, reports the Daily Express.

The 63-year-old believes that the £59.7 million signing didn’t live up to his hefty price tag due to an inability to deal with the fast-paced English game. The culture shock of living in the country also didn’t help. It has been mentioned in the past how the 27-year-old was unable to settle down with his family.

“There was only one solution in the story of Di Maria,” said van Gaal, “Why has he not been successful? That you never know but it’s hard to find players who can deal with the whole package that is required here.

“So, the breakneck pace of the English matches in conjunction with the British living culture which is different from the culture in Latin countries.”

The forward has now completed a £44 million move to PSG, and will be hoping to have more success with the Ligue 1 champions. Meanwhile, the Red Devils will have to find a replacement. They have been strongly linked with a move for Barcelona ace Pedro [Daily Star], and the Spain international could be the man for the job.

Although he has been kept out of the Barca team by Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, the forward is nevertheless a good player. Able to play on either wing, he could be exactly what United need to get themselves back in to contention for the Premier League title.
