Manchester United to make £21.2m forward their sixth summer signing on Wednesday

Manchester United will complete the signing of Barcelona forward Pedro on Wednesday, according to Marca (via the Daily Star).

Pedro has spent his entire professional career at the Nou Camp, after joining Barcelona at the age of 17, but has seen his first-team chances limited following the arrival of Luis Suarez last summer.

The 28-year-old enjoyed his most effective La Liga season to date in 2013/14, scoring 15 goals, but was handed just 15 starts by Luis Enrique in the manager’s first season in charge last term, as Barca clinched a historic treble.

Louis van Gaal successfully sold Angel Di Maria to PSG earlier in the week, and the Daily Star believes Pedro is considered a replacement for the Argentine international.

Pedro is a hugely experienced attacker, who can play out wide or in a central role, and the versatile Barcelona star has won a host of honours during his time at the Catalan giants, including five La Liga titles and three Champions League winner’s medals.

Indeed, in 2011 Pedro netted against United during Barcelona’s 3-1 Champions League final win at Wembley, one of 98 goals he has struck for the club.

The Daily Star report that a £21.2m deal will be completed on Wednesday following Barcelona’s involvement in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday night.

Louis van Gaal has already completed deals to sign Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Sergio Romero, all of whom featured in Man United’s opening day win over Tottenham.
