Premier League side near signing of STUNNING South American striker as potential replacement for Tottenham target

West Bromwich Albion’s offensive deficiencies may soon be a thing of the past, with the Baggies understood to be closing in on a move for Salomon Rondon.

According to Sky Sports, the Albion are keen on brining the Zenit St Petersburg hitman to the Black Country and are close to completing a £15 million deal for the 25-year-old frontman.

Should the deal go through at the fee quoted by Sky, Rondon would become the club’s record signing, with his transfer beating the fee paid to secure Nigeria striker Ideye Brown last summer.

Sky report that the Venezualan star is expected to sign with the Hawthorns side over the next week, with personal terms having already been agreed. Rondon is also understood to have completed his medical, and there appears to be little that stands in the way of the move.

Should he complete his move to join the Throstles, he may well be a replacement for Saido Berahino, with the forward having been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
