Manchester United: £12m bid prepared for underrated Champions League goal-poacher

United in £12m striker talks, bid should be enough to force move.

Manchester United are braced for a £12m bid from Premier League rivals West Ham for backup striker Javier Hernandez, who have already failed with an £8.5m offer.

The Hammers are keen to improve their options up front due to injuries to Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho, though Mauro Zarate impressed in the club’s shock 2-0 win away to Arsenal on the opening day of the season.

Still, with Hernandez unlikely to be a key player at Old Trafford this season, it could be worth bidding for the Mexican international, who did a decent job as a backup on loan at Real Madrid last season.

According to the Daily Star, Upton Park could be his next destination, though Hernandez has already snubbed offers from other clubs this summer.
