Official: David de Gea out of Man Utd squad for Aston Villa game, new signing set to play

De Gea’s absence for Man Utd is confirmed.

Sky Sports have confirmed via their official Twitter account that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will not be included in the matchday squad for the Aston Villa game on Friday.

Summer signing Sergio Romero will take the number one spot in the Red Devils’ starting line up, having also played in goal for the 1-0 win over Tottenham on the opening day of the Premier League season.

De Gea has been linked with Real Madrid for much of the summer and this latest move by manager Louis van Gaal will surely point towards an imminent exit for the Spanish international.
