Man City £50m-rated transfer target offered lucrative contract by Bundelisga outfit

Manchester City‘s pursuit of talented playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has been thrown into jeopardy, following reports in Mail Sport that VfL Wolfsburg have offered the Belgian international a new contract.

The former Chelsea midfielder has been heavily linked with a return to the Barclays Premier League this summer after a spectacular season in Germany during the 2014-15 campaign as he registered 20 assists in the league and found the net in Die Wolfe’s DFB Pokal final victory over Borussia Dortmund.

A transfer to the Etihad Stadium appears to be the most likely destination for De Bruyne should he leave the Volkswagen Arena, however, the Bundesliga club are desperate not to sell and have reacted to City’s interest by offering the player a new lucrative £150,000-a-week contract.

It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old will accept that offer as it’s understood that City are very keen on his signature could still make an improved bid of £50million before the transfer window closes next month.
