Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has drawn up a four-man shortlist to bolster his striking options, reports the Metro.

The 63-year-old has been left with only Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney as senior forwards after the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, and will need to reinforce the area if a title challenge is going to be on the cards.

As a result the Dutchman has been on the lookout for a new forward, and has now made a list of options to discuss with his coaches.

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has is among the choices, and is possibly the best of the bunch. Last season he managed 13 goals and ten assists in 32 Bundesliga matches, and worked with van Gaal when he was in charge at the Allianz Arena.

However, a more short term option could be PSG ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic. At 33-years-old, the Sweden international is unlikely to be at the top of his game for long, but could be available relatively cheaply and could make an impact immediately.
