Manchester United offered Real Madrid ace in swap deal for David de Gea

Manchester United have reportedly been offered Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas in a cash-plus-player deal for David de Gea, according to the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils have already made a signing in goal this summer, bringing in Argentine shot-stopper Sergio Romero, who has seemingly established himself as the club’s new number one after starting their first three games of the new season in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Still, De Gea was the undisputed first choice in Louis van Gaal’s starting line up last term, and will prove a big miss if he does end up leaving Old Trafford for the Bernabeu.

Real hope that the offer of another quality goalkeeper in return can help smooth things over in this long-running transfer saga, with Navas proving himself to be a potentially great player with his performances at previous club Levante and for the Costa Rica national team.

However, it could prove another frustrating moment for the Spanish giants in their pursuit of De Gea, with the Mail claiming that United are unmoved by such a proposal, with a keeper clearly not a priority and with the club not under too much pressure to let De Gea go.

The 24-year-old only has one year left on his current contract with United, and another report from the Daily Mail earlier this summer suggested that the club may choose to let him see it out before moving to Madrid on a free transfer, having been unable to reach an agreement in the market this year.
