Is it Karim Benzema!? Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger expecting one more signing

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is expecting to make one more signing this summer, amid links to Real Madrid star Karim Benzema, reports the Daily Mail.

The 65-year-old has already brought Petr Cech to the Emirates Stadium during the transfer window, but more will surely be needed if they are going to challenge Chelsea and Manchester City for the Premier League title. Last time round they finished a full 12 points behind the champions, and one signing will surely not bridge that gap.

“The funds are there, people know that you have the resources, but the players are not available,” said Wenger, “We expect, like you, to make another signing. But at the moment, we are not close.”

Up front is one area that the North Londoners could do with improving, with their rivals far stronger in the position. Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa are a class above Olivier Giroud, despite the 28-year-old managing 14 goals  and three assists in 27 Premier League appearances last season.

In the same campaign, Benzema scored 15 goals and assisted another 10 in 29 La Liga matches. The France international also has the experience of winning the Champions League and Spanish top flight, which could be vital as the Gunners look to end a run of over a decade without a league title.
