Bayern Munich star says teammate is “flattered” by interest from Manchester United

Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben admits he can understand why Thomas Muller could be tempted to join Manchester United.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for the majority of the current transfer window and reports in German-based publication Bild [via Manchester Evening News] during the week claimed a £60million bid had been placed by the Premier League giants.

Muller himself admitted his valuation came as a surprise and Robben believes his teammate his flattered by the Red Devils interest:

“First of all, I am not sure if it really is true that Thomas Muller receives such an offer but in general it is always nice for a player when such a big club is interested,” the Dutch international told reporters [via ESPN]

“We’re all human and have feelings.”

“Receiving such an offer is flattering but it doesn’t automatically mean that you are leaving the club. I think the players like it here and Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I love it here.”

“But it is always nice when other big clubs are interested — you feel honoured. Sometimes then you choose to go, but sometimes you stay,” Robben explained.

United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster the attacking options at the club after selling record signing Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain and losing out to rivals Chelsea for the signature of Spanish international Pedro, who snubbed a move to Old Trafford in order to sign for the Blues.

Other targets for the Dutchman reportedly include Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale as well as Southampton star Sadio Mane.
