Manchester United target wonderkid, whose ‘biggest dream’ is Old Trafford move

Manchester United have started tracking Odds Ballklubb star Rafik Zekhnini after his brilliant performance against Borussia Dortmund, reports VG [via Metro].

The 17-year-old was on top of his game as the Norwegian side went 3-0 up inside 30 minutes during the recent Europa League tie, before the Bundesliga side came back and won 3-4. The winger even did enough to make the German side think about signing him [again according to the Metro], meaning that the Red Devils will have competition for the youngster.

The wideman’s transfer could play out in a similar fashion to fellow Norwegian Martin Odegaard. The 16-year-old joined Real Madrid from Stromsgodset last January, after a long-running saga where he was linked to many clubs across the continent [Daily Mail].

However, the Red Devils may have the inside run on Zekhnini, after the teenager admitted that he dreams of joining the Old Trafford outfit [Nettavisen via Metro]. He also admitted he was open to the prosepct of a move by revealing that he doesn’t know where he could go in the future.

“I don’t know where I will be in five years’ time,” he said, “I will give my best every day. Manchester United is the biggest dream.”

United have already missed out on one winger this summer, with Barcelona ace Pedro joining rivals Chelsea, despite earlier links to Louis van Gaal’s side [BBC].

However, Zekhnini is unlikely to be a direct substitute for the Spain international. Indeed, the youngster would be unlikely to go straight in to the first team of either the Premier League outfit or BVB, should they sign him.
