Manchester United will accept £21.8m plus player in David De Gea swap deal

Manchester United are ready to accept an offer of £21.8m plus Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas in return for David De Gea, according to the Daily Star.

24-year-old Old Trafford star De Gea is yet to feature in Louis van Gaal’s first-team this season and the former Atletico Madrid man has just a year to run on his current Man United contract (via BBC Sport) which has led to growing speculation that he could be on his way to a summer exit.

New signing Sergio Romero has kept clean sheets in each of his three Premier League appearances this term and the only goal he has conceded since moving to United came in the form of an own goal from Michael Carrick during his side’s 3-1 Champions League qualifier against Club Brugges on Tuesday night.

New Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez has brought in keeper Kiko Casilla so far this summer, while Iker Casillas has left to join FC Porto. David De Gea would offer the Spanish giants a strong option between the sticks.

Navas played only a supporting role for Los Merengues last term, the Costa Rican international making just six La Liga appearances in 2014/15. One wonders whether the former Levante man would start ahead of Romero between the sticks should he move to Old Trafford.
