Barcelona superstar ‘open’ to Manchester United transfer

Barcelona star Neymar is ‘open’ to the possibility of moving to Manchester United, according to The Guardian.

The 23-year-old played a crucial role in helping Luis Enrique to secure the Liga BBVA, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble last season, netting 39 goals in all competitions, as he formed part of Barcelona’s unstoppable three-pronged attack alongside Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

Louis van Gaal has seen his side net just two goals in their opening three Premier League fixtures and are lacking a prolific forward to spearhead their attack with Robin van Persie having been sold to Fenerbahce.

Neymar’s current contract includes a massive £137.8m release clause (The Sun via the Daily Star), a sum that would smash the world transfer record and Barcelona have no reason to consider selling the former Santos player for less.

The Guardian’s assertion that Neymar is ‘open’ to a move to Man United is therefore hard to fathom given the level of success he has recently achieved at the Nou Camp.

Van Gaal has been linked with a host of potential striker purchases in recent weeks with Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller (Bild via The Independent) and Harry Kane (via The Guardian) being two prominent targets.
