Manchester United star ‘just doesn’t get on with’ Louis van Gaal, amid Real Madrid links

Manchester United star David De Gea doesn’t get on with manager Louis van Gaal amid links to Real Madrid, reports the Daily Mirror.

A source close to the 24-year-old has told the Mirror that he has a poor relationship with the 63-year-old, and an even more strained one with goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek. This could give Los Merengues hope that they can sign the Spain international as the transfer window draws to a close.

“David just doesn’t get on with Van Gaal – and his relationship with goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek is even more strained,” said the Mirror’s source.

The former Atletico Madrid man is yet to play this season, with Sergio Romero being preferred between the sticks while the transfer saga rumbles on. Despite this, van Gaal has insisted that he is going to hold on to his star player in the face of Los Blancos’ advances [BBC].

“I think when Manchester United wants a player he shall come, besides when a club isn’t selling,” said van Gaal.

“It is the same with us. We are not selling De Gea.”

Although the Dutchman could be tempted by the addition of Keylor Navas to the deal, which the Daily Mail believes could be on the cards. The Costa Rica international would be a great replacement for the former Atletico Madrid man, and the Red Devils could get some cash alongside the 28-year-old.

They may need this cash if they are going to go after Gareth Bale from the Bernabeu, as has been rumoured by the Daily Mirror. The 26-year-old would certainly be an impressive acquisition, and his goals could help to compensate for the loss of De Gea, a defensive rock last season.
