Manchester United legend tells Louis van Gaal to bring in CONTROVERSIAL striker

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has told the club to sign PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, reports the Daily Star.

The Red Devils are in need of a new striker, with Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez their only senior players in the position at the moment. The poor form of the former in their matches so far has made the need even more obvious, with the team only able to scrape past Aston Villa and draw with Newcastle United because of their inability to score freely.

Former Old Trafford hero Scholes thinks that the perfect man for the job is currently plying his trade at the Parc des Princes.

“You need more than one [striker]. They’ve got Chicharito and young James Wilson, who is a really good player, but last year he didn’t really take his chance when he had the chance to do it,” said Scholes, “They have lost two top centre-forwards in [Radamel] Falcao and Robin van Persie. Okay, so Falcao wasn’t great while he was here, but he has been a top centre-forward, so they need something else.

“I wonder if they could take a chance on Ibrahimovic for a year. Maybe he could do something in the Van Persie mould. I don’t care whether he gets on with Van Gaal or not, as long as he scores goals. I don’t think they need much else. They have good players on the bench, but they need a centre-forward.”

The Sweden international is known for his big personality, and with United boss Louis van Gaal also has a reputation for falling out with his players. As such, the pair would likely be a fiery combination, and it could be a mistake to put the duo together.

However, with 19 goals in 24 Ligue 1 appearances last season, the 33-year-old could be exactly what the Dutchman needs as he attempts to challenge for the Premier League title.
