Man City POISED to land £55m-rated Belgian star as Bundesliga giants pull out of race

Manchester City have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of highly-rated VfL Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, Mirror Sport reports.

The current leaders of the Premier League have been heavily linked with a move for the former Chelsea midfielder all summer and fresh reports emerged on Monday morning stated that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich had entered the race for the 24-year-old.

It was also claimed that the Belgian international preferred a move to the reigning champions of Germany ahead of a switch to the Etihad Stadium.

However, the Citizens appear to have a clear path to signing the attacking midfielder as a spokesman for the Bavarian outfit ruled out a bid for De Bruyne:

“We definitely won’t do anything about signing De Bruyne. The board already decided this a long time ago,” Markus Horwick revealed.

With the transfer window set to close next week, it is looking increasingly likely that this saga will go right down to the wire as the German outfit are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £55milliom, which would reprsent a club-record fee for City.
