Mario Balotelli: Departing Liverpool transfer flop sends message to Reds fans

Mario Balotelli is on the brink of a move to AC Milan, and has taken a moment to bid farewell to fans of Liverpool—the club he is leaving behind.

The forward has endured a particularly unhappy stay on Merseyside.

He arrived only last summer, from Milan, and having previously won the Premier League with Manchester City, it wasn’t unreasonable to hope that the attacker might go some way to replacing the goals lost when Luis Suarez moved to Barcelona.

However, Balotelli struggled to hit top form and regularly appeared disinterested when in action for the Reds.  He ended the campaign with one EPL goal in 16 showings as Liverpool finished the year in sixth place.

He now appears set for a departure, having passed his medical at AC Milan [Sky Sports], and will return to Lombardy on a season-long loan deal.

Despite leaving, however, the forward appears to still retain some affection for the Merseysiders.

He posted the following note on his official Facebook page to that the club’s fans for the support they showed him during his troubled stay at Anfield.
