Manchester United are poised to launch a £20million bid for talented Schalke 04 winger Julian Draxler, according to reports in Italy.
The German wonderkid has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus this summer, but with the two clubs unable to agree on a fee it has opened the door for the Red Devils to swoop in for the 21-year-old.
The report [via Star Sport] claims Juve are eager to sign Belgian international Axel Witsel in a bid to bolster their midfield options following the departures of key duo Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo to Bayern Munich and New York City respectively.
That has created an opportunity for United to hijack the reigning champions of Italy in the pursuit of Draxler and he could possibly make a move to Old Trafford before the transfer window shuts next week.
After missing out on the signing of Pedro, United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to add another forward to his squad as he looks to replace club record signing Angel Di Maria, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer.
